The Safe Haven Program at My Brother’s House provides low demand services to 20 dislocated, mentally ill, and socially isolated men who, as a result of their disabilities, are unable to negotiate for themselves necessary health and sheltering needs. Eight men stay in the second floor semi-private rooms, and 12 in the congregate living space on the first floor. Residents are provided a safe abode, three meals a day, snacks and clothing.
Other services include personal storage and safekeeping of belongings, secure mail service, free access to local phone calls, laundry, monitoring of prescribed medication, transportation to and from scheduled appointments, and medical and mental health casework assistance. The goal of Safe Haven is to stabilize the medical and mental health conditions of this vulnerable population and to offer an array of supportive services to help prepare them for more independent living.
