RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT:  Lily

Abused by her husband and out of touch with her children, Lily suffered from severe bouts of depression. After moving into Spruce Street, she found strength in the support of her new housemates.  Whenever the depression returned, they would rally around her, making sure she got back on track.

Soon Lily felt confident enough to go back to school to earn her Associate’s degree. She enrolled in Community College of Philadelphia and began taking courses towards her nurse’s aide certification. Simultaneously, Lily knew she wanted to move out on her own, get her own place and be responsible for herself.

She found an apartment in South Philadelphia, her home neighborhood, and moved into a small one-bedroom apartment. She proudly shows off her new home, making sure you take note of her decorating expertise and dedication to cleanliness. She beams with pride.

Lily has been making it on her own for over a year. She maintains her apartment and still attends classes at CCP, moving ever closer to her certification.

Lily succeeded.
