RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT:  Susan

Susan lived at Bethesda’s Spruce Street residence for many years. During her stay, she was encouraged and challenged by staff and residents to realize her full potential. She began cooking for the men at Sanctuary and gradually realized she wanted to live on her own.

On a sunny day in 1999, Susan moved into her own apartment. Nestled in the hills of Manayunk, Susan’s apartment is beautiful. She’s been living there, meeting her neighbors, and getting used to the new reality of bill paying and home maintenance for over a year.

She still makes dinners for the men of Sanctuary and keeps close to her old roommates from Spruce Street. Once quiet, shy, and a bit of a loner, Susan now enjoys socializing and checking out all the new markets that keep popping up.

Susan succeeded.
