Counter Cartographies: Mapping Spaces of the Unhoused in Philadelphia

Counter Cartographies is a community art project in collaboration with unhoused shelter residents served by Bethesda Project. This free event will take place at the Rotunda from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Light food and refreshments will be provided.This project was conceptualized and initiated by volunteer contributor Nayantara Ghosh, who continues to participate in a volunteer capacity. Collaborators include Bethesda Project residents, staff, and volunteers, and Design Fellows through PennPraxis and Civic House (University of Pennsylvania). Support for this project has been provided by The Sachs Program for Arts Innovation. RSVP Requested.

Legacy Society Tour & Reception at Brandywine Museum

Members of Bethesda Project’s Legacy Society are invited to attend a special guided tour and reception at the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art on Saturday, September 13th, 4:30-6:30PM.

The Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art offers a unique way to appreciate art and the environment. Home to works of art by renowned artist Andrew Wyeth, the Brandywine Museum is not to be missed. This gathering is a great way to come together and celebrate the accomplishments of Bethesda Project. Largely in thanks to your dedicated and generous support.

The evening will feature a private, after-hours tour followed by a wine and cheese reception. The cost of the event is $50. Legacy Society Members are encouraged to invite along new friends who they believe may be interested in the work that we do.

Lunch & Learn: A Conversation Around Harm Reduction & Power Dynamics

All are welcome to join a presentation and discussion with Bethesda Project program staff, Andrew Huff, Autumn Jenkins, and Tori Johnson, surrounding their takeaways from the National Alliance to End Homelessness Conference which took place this past July in Washington, DC.

The conference is one the largest opportunities for service providers, system leaders, advocates, and others to gather and share ideas. Autumn and Tori, both Program Coordinators at Bethesda Project’s Permanent Supportive Housing Sites, were selected to attend the conference as a professional development opportunity. Andrew, Senior Case Manager of Bethesda Project's Church Shelter Program, was invited to present at the conference on the Harm Reduction work being done in Bethesda Project’s Entry-Level Programs.

The conversation will focus on the importance of including individuals with lived expertise in organizational roles, acknowledging the complex role race plays in housing displacement, and acknowledging and including shelter occupants in decisions made about where they live. There will be time for thoughtful group discussion and questions. This is event is free and open to the public.
